In an industry as dynamically charged as cannabis, financial agility can be as critical as the quality of the product itself. High Tide Inc., the retail-forward powerhouse shaping the very contours of cannabis commerce, has recently taken a bold step in financial management that sets a precedent not only for its own operations but for the industry at large. The company’s successful restructuring of approximately $8.9 million of its debt marks more than a savvy financial move—it’s a strategic pivot towards accelerated growth and innovation.

Raj Grover, the visionary Founder and CEO of High Tide, has steered the company through turbulent waters with a steady hand. The recent restructuring of a senior secured convertible debenture issued back in July 2020 epitomizes fiscal prudence and foresight. This move doesn’t just improve the company’s balance sheet; it symbolizes a promise to shareholders and the cannabis community: High Tide is playing the long game.

“I’m excited to announce the restructuring of the debenture, which creates more flexibility on our balance sheet as we start pushing the momentum on new store openings again. Recall that at the beginning of 2021, just after the acquisition of META, our gross debt stood at approximately 65 million dollars. Over the past three years, we have now cut our outstanding debt in half to 32 million dollars today, representing just 1.2 times the Adjusted EBITDA we reported over the past four quarters,” said Raj Grover, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of High Tide.

“While eliminating this debt, we have simultaneously grown High Tide to an annual revenue run rate exceeding half a billion dollars and generated 4.1 million dollars in free cash flow during our last reported quarter, ending it with a cash balance exceeding 25 million dollars. As mentioned during our last quarterly call, with regular payments coming due, amending the terms of this debt was a priority for us, as it now allows us to allocate more cash toward the acceleration of organic store openings. On that front, we have secured more than fifteen premiere locations, with more in the pipeline, and we are excited to now crystalize these opportunities to generate even more cash for shareholders, ” added Mr. Grover.

Looking forward, High Tide is not resting on its laurels. With more than fifteen prime retail locations on the horizon, the company is poised to expand its footprint in the cannabis retail market significantly. The Canna Cabana™ chain, the largest non-franchised cannabis retail chain in Canada with 156 current locations, stands as a beacon of retail excellence. Innovative ventures like Fastendr™, a unique and fully automated technology that integrates retail kiosks and smart lockers to facilitate a better buying experience, also point to a future where technology and cannabis retail converge seamlessly.

E-commerce platforms such as Grasscity.com and Smokecartel.com, alongside the cultivation of consumer CBD through avenues like Nuleafnaturals.com and FABCBD.com, showcase High Tide’s commitment to a vertically integrated business model. This diversity not only insulates the company from market volatility but also offers consumers an unprecedented level of choice and quality.

The essence of High Tide’s approach lies in its holistic integration of all cannabis components—from bricks and mortar to e-commerce, from CBD cultivation to innovative wholesale solutions provided by Valiant™. This is not mere diversification; it is the creation of a cannabis ecosystem where every part supports and enhances the others.

Industry accolades, such as being named one of Canada’s Top Growing Companies and topping the Financial Times list of Americas’ Fastest Growing Companies in the retail category, are affirmations of High Tide’s strategic mastery.

High Tide’s financial recalibration is a clarion call to the industry: adapt, innovate, and grow. As we watch this high-impact enterprise navigate the ever-shifting tides of the cannabis market, one thing is clear—High Tide Inc. isn’t just riding the wave of industry transformation; it’s creating the swell.
